SAFETY
When you join the Solidarity Collective, your safety is our priority. Solidarity Collective delegations seek to understand the root causes of violence in Latin America, but we do not seek it out.

Our teams on the ground monitor the security situation and maintain regular contact with local partners, our international teams are experts in understanding the local security situation, and are experienced and equipped to deal with any situation.
Over the years we’ve led over hundreds of delegations without a single major safety incident. We travel on established airlines and reliable buses. Our professional drivers are adept at navigating the local terrain and unique traffic conditions in each country site.

We focus on safety so you can focus on learning, connecting with our local partners, and building transnational solidarity.
SIX STEPS TO SAFETY

1.
We continually monitor events and assess the prospects for a safe delegation, including maintaining contact with our local partners and community contacts.

2.
Our Program Directors (fluent in English and Spanish) accompany every delegation and our U.S.-based delegation coordinators have significant experience in the region.

3.
Solidarity Collective delegations travel in reliable buses owned and operated by a local transportation agency.
We never take your safety for granted. When you join a Solidarity Collective delegation, we make a commitment to your security. The following steps have helped us lead hundreds delegations without a major safety incident:

4.
We stay in locally-owned hotels and with trusted community partners.

5.
Every delegation carries basic medical supplies and selects a volunteer Health Coordinator with the responsibility of helping other delegation members manage health needs.

6.
Program Directors and Delegation Coordinators call ahead the day before and the morning of each visit so that we know the situation in each town and village before we arrive. If a security concern emerges, we act quickly to make necessary adjustments to the itinerary.
